November 14, 2011 Board Meeting Minutes
Meeting was called to order at 6:30 pm.
Board Members attending were Dave Zeemont, President; Steve Bailey, Secretary; Bob Crowley, Treasurer; Larry Felhauer and Kathy Mayer, Directors at Large. Also attending, Dave Wright, Gates Chair.
Minutes from the previous meeting were approved.
Bob Crowley, Treasurer, presented the Treasurer's Report (see attached.) He also reported that there was nothing new concerning the Erosion Control Committee.
Steve Bailey reported that the Gates and Islands plant restorations have been completed. All of the dead plants have been removed and the gates and islands have been rejuvenated. The Anthem Gate gained a new tree plus several flowering plants and grasses. Lots of desert plants were added to the Barcelona Gate which included various hedgehogs, yuccas, ocotillos, and chollas. All of the islands were inspected and many had plants added to them. All new plants were native cacti, ocotillos, yuccas, hedgehogs, etc and will require no supplemental watering. Neighbors are encouraged to contact Steve Bailey if something dies on an island or if it needs some kind of attention. Neighbors are also encouraged to add additional native plants to the islands, but please run it by Steve Bailey or Larry Felhauer first.
Dave Wright, Gates Chair, announced that JRP Construction would begin work on gate structure restoration this week. It should take a couple weeks to complete. The gate structures at Barcelona and Anthem and the CR Sign at the corner of Anthem and Barcelona will be reconditioned. The company will inspect each site and repair any damages, fix leaks, etc., then prime and paint (two coats) with top quality materials. This will be the first time the gates and sign have been refurbished since they were installed. Cost of the project will be about $13,000. The money had been approved at the Annual Meeting and money had been set aside for the task (however, all three areas were bid at the amount previously thought to only cover one gate plus the sign.) Drive carefully through the gates while they are working on them, please. Of course, you should always drive carefully through them!
Dave also reported that all of the lights were currently working.
Kathy Mayer reported that the annual Holiday Party would be held on Saturday, December 3rd, starting at 5:30 pm at the Ump 88 Bar and Grille. No Host bar starts at 5:30pm with the hors d'ouerves and dinner starting at six. Kathy has sent out emails and hand delivered flyers explaining the party. The cost will be $20 per person, and will include appetizers, dinner, and dessert. Ump 88 Grille has donated gift certificates, Steve Bailey donated boxes of his Art Writing Cards, and Larry and Diane Allen donated movie passes as door prizes. We are always looking for more door prize donations. Contact Steve or Kathy if you would like to donate something. Sounds like a fun time for all. See you there.
The subject of speed limit signs for CR (to be placed at the first island in from each gate) was discussed. Some residents, unfortunately, are speeding through the neighborhood, making it unsafe for people out walking. Speed limit signs had been discussed before, but the Board decided that this was a topic that should be reviewed with the entire Membership in January.
The subject of night lights was also brought up. As a reminder, one of the benefits of living in Coronado Ridge is that everyone can enjoy the city lights and stars at night. When you leave your exterior lights on, especially the bright, glaring light, it interferes with your neighbors' pleasure. Please, be considerate of your neighbors and keep your exterior lights off (except when you are actually using them, of course.)
The date of the Annual General Membership Meeting has been confirmed as Tuesday, January 24, 2012 starting at 6:00 pm at the Country Club. Among other items on the agenda, we will be voting for three Board positions: President, Treasurer, and one At Large Director. Steve Bailey will serve as Nominating Chair and would welcome anyone who wishes to help out. Nominations can be made to the Committee or can be made in person at the General Meeting. The actual agenda will be presented to members after the December Board Meeting and before the 30 day notice period.
The Board discussed the proposed 2012 Budget offered by the Treasurer. After making a few suggestions, the Board decided to table action on the proposed budget until the December meeting so that Bob Crowley can make those changes to the proposal. The proposed budget will then be presented to the Members at the January Meeting (will be made available right after the December Board Meeting.)
Dave Zeemont stated that, after researching the problem, it appears that CR has not been experiencing water pressure spikes (that could damage residents homes.) This is an unofficial observation, based on replies from homeowners in Coronado Ridge.
The next Board of Directors meeting will be held on Monday, December 12th at 6:30 pm at 1236 Regency Court. All meetings are open to all members of the CRNA; however, we would appreciate knowing if you plan to attend so that seating can be arranged.
Meeting was adjourned at 8 pm.
Respectfully submitted,
Steve Bailey
Secretary CRNA
